Service in pursuit of bettering one’s community is one of the highest callings a person can have. But it is not a given. I consider it a great blessing and privilege to be in a position where I have the ability to run for Southeast Community College Board of Governors. Because I am privileged to be in this position, I feel it is my duty to run and represent those like me who are not as fortunate.

I am running for the Board of Governors because the residents of District 4, and the students and staff at Southeast Community College, deserve representation and leadership that reflects them. They deserve leadership that has walked the same path they have walked, and has lived-experience that understands their needs in their entirety and not just as students. The students at SCC are sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters. When Southeast Community College begins treating the people they serve as students whose importance to the institution begins and ends in the classroom, those who need them the most get left behind.

As an alumni of Southeast Community College, lifelong resident of its service area, and direct beneficiary of the services it offers, I believe my first hand experience with the institution makes me uniquely qualified to serve in this role and to advise the incredible faculty of Southeast Community College as they continue to navigate the institution through the ever changing landscapes of higher-education, economics, and politics.
